   A warm apartment suited to the season of the year, (December,
   when snow is often upon the ground in Palestine,) in which was
   a pan or brazier ({ach,} or {ikhkh,} as it is pronounced in
   Arabic) of burning charcoal; for we learn from Bp. Pococke,
   and Dr. Russel, that this was the mode in which the Orientals
   warmed their apartments.
