不完ἐπίραζον;未πειράσω;1不定式ἐπείρασα,關身2人稱單ἐπειράσω。被動;1不定式ἐπειράσθην;完分詞πεπειρασμένος。
一、「嘗試試著」。( 申4:34徒9:26 16:7 24:6

二、「試驗試探察探」某人如何。( 詩26:2 )。
A. 普通用法:τινά某人。ἑαυτοὺς πειράζετε εἰ ἐστὲ ἐν τῇ πίστει你們總要自己省察有信心沒有, 林後13:5 。ἐπείρασας τοὺς λέγοντας ἑαυτοὺς ἀποστόλους你曾試驗那自稱為使徒的, 啟2:2

B. 含好的意義,用於神或基督試驗人,使他們顯為真, 約6:6 來11:17 (如 創22:1 ,亞伯拉罕)。也用於由神而來之難受的試驗( 出20:20 申8:2 異版; 士2:22 ), 林前10:13 來2:18 上,下; 來4:15 11:37 啟3:10

C. 含壞的意義,試探人為了要得把柄而對付他。耶穌受祂的對手如此對待, 太16:1 19:3 22:18,35 可8:11 10:2 12:15 路11:16 20:23 公認經文; 約8:6

D. 含壞的意義,誘人犯罪試探加6:1 雅1:13 上(見ἀπό-SG575戊六)下, 雅1:14 。魔鬼更是試探人,以致直接被稱為ὁ πειράζων那試探人的太4:3 帖前3:5 下。魔鬼試探人, 林前7:5 帖前3:5 上; 啟2:10 。而且也膽敢地試探耶穌, 太4:1 可1:13 路4:1 。有關耶穌的試探,見上述二B., 來2:18 上; 來4:15

E. 聖經也論及人試探神,為要探測祂是否真會做某件事,特別是祂是否察究罪惡,以及能夠懲罰罪( 出17:2,7 民14:22 賽7:12 詩78:41,56 等), 林前10:9 來3:9詩95:9 )。τὸ πνεῦμα κυρίου〔試探〕主的靈, 徒5:9 。在 徒15:10 πειράζειν τὸν θεόν 「試探神」涵意是,神已將聖靈賜下給外邦人,而藉此清楚顯示祂的旨示了,卻有人懷疑神而試探祂,要知道神是否實行祂的旨意。見πειράω-SG3987。*
