1:1 作長老<4245>的寫信給蒙揀選的<1588>太太<2959>（或譯：教會；下同）和<2532>她的<846>兒女<5043>，就是{<3739>}我<1473>誠心<1722><225>所愛<25>(5719)的；{<2532>}不但<3756><3441>我<1473>愛，{<235>}也是<2532>一切<3956>知道<1097>(5761)真理<225>之人所愛的。
The elder<4245> unto the elect<1588> lady<2959> and<2532> her<846> children<5043>, whom<3739> I<1473> love<25>(5719) in<1722> the truth<225>; and<2532> not<3756> I<1473> only<3441>, but<235> also<2532> all<3956> they that have known<1097>(5761) the truth<225>;
1:2 愛你們是為真理<225>的緣故<1223>，這<3588>真理存在<3306>(5723)我們<1473>裡面<1722>，也<2532>必{<1510>}{(5695)}{<1519>}永遠<165>與我們<1473>同在<3326>。
For<1223> the truth's sake<225>, which<3588> dwelleth<3306>(5723) in<1722> us<2254>, and<2532> shall be<2071>(5704) with<3326> us<2257> for<1519> ever<165>.
1:3 恩惠<5485>、憐憫<1656>、平安<1515>從<3844>父<3962>　神<2316>和<2532>{<3844>}他{<3962>}兒子<5207>耶穌<2424>基督<5547>在<1722>真理<225>和<2532>愛心<26>上必{<1510>}{(5695)}常與我們<1473>同在<3326>！
Grace<5485> be<2071>(5704) with<3326> you<5216>, mercy<1656>, and peace<1515>, from<3844> God<2316> the Father<3962>, and<2532> from<3844> the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>, the Son<5207> of the Father<3962>, in<1722> truth<225> and<2532> love<26>. {be: Gr. shall be}
1:4 {<3754>}我見<2147>(5758){<1537>}你<4771>的兒女<5043>，有照<2531>我們從<3844>父<3962>所受<2983>(5656)之命令<1785>遵行<4043>(5723){<1722>}真理<225>的，就甚<3029>歡喜<5463>(5675)。
I rejoiced<5463>(5644) greatly<3029> that<3754> I found<2147>(5758) of<1537> thy<4675> children<5043> walking<4043>(5723) in<1722> truth<225>, as<2531> we have received<2983>(5627) a commandment<1785> from<3844> the Father<3962>.
1:5 {<2532>}太太<2959>啊，我現在<3568>勸<2065>(5719)你<4771>，{<2443>}我們大家要彼此<240>相愛<25>(5725)。這並不是<3756><5613>我寫<1125>(5723)一條新<2537>命令<1785>給你<4771>，乃是<235>{<3739>}我們從<575>起初<746>所受<2192>(5707)的命令。
And<2532> now<3568> I beseech<2065>(5719) thee<4571>, lady<2959>, not<3756> as though<5613> I wrote<1125>(5719)(5625)<1125>(5723) a new<2537> commandment<1785> unto thee<4671>, but<235> that which<3739> we had<2192>(5707) from<575> the beginning<746>, that<2443> we love<25>(5725) one another<240>.
1:6 {<2443>}我們若照<2596>他<846>的命令<1785>行<4043>(5725)，{<2532>}這<3778>就是<1510>(5719)愛<26>。{<2443>}你們從<575>起初<746>所{<2531>}聽見<191>(5656)當行<4043>(5725){<1722>}{<846>}的，就是<1510>(5719)這<3778>命令<1785>。
And<2532> this<3778> is<2076>(5748) love<26>, that<2443> we walk<4043>(5725) after<2596> his<846> commandments<1785>. This<3778> is<2076>(5748) the commandment<1785>, That<2443>, as<2531> ye have heard<191>(5656) from<575> the beginning<746>, ye should walk<4043>(5725) in<1722> it<846>.
1:7 因為<3754>{<1519>}世上<2889>有許多<4183>迷惑人的<4108>出來<1831>(5656)，他們<3588>不<3361>認<3670>(5723)耶穌<2424>基督<5547>是成了<1722>肉身<4561>來<2064>(5740)的；這<3778>就是<1510>(5719)那迷惑人<4108>、{<2532>}敵基督的<500>。
For<3754> many<4183> deceivers<4108> are entered<1525>(5627) into<1519> the world<2889>, who<3588> confess<3670>(5723) not<3361> that Jesus<2424> Christ<5547> is come<2064>(5740) in<1722> the flesh<4561>. This<3778> is<2076>(5748) a deceiver<4108> and<2532> an antichrist<500>.
1:8 你們<1438>要小心<991>(5720)，不要<2443><3361>失去<622>(5661){<3739>}你們（有古卷：我們）所做的工<2038>(5662)，乃要<235>得著<618>(5661)滿足的<4134>賞賜<3408>。
Look<991>(5720) to yourselves<1438>, that<3363><0> we lose<622>(5661) not<3363> those things which<3739> we have wrought<2038>(5662), but<235> that we receive<618>(5632) a full<4134> reward<3408>. {wrought: or, gained, some copies read, ye have gained, but that ye, etc.}
1:9 凡<3956>越過<4254>(5723){<1722>}基督<5547>的教訓<1322>{<2532>}不<3361>常守著<3306>(5723)的，就沒<3756>有<2192>(5719)　神<2316>；常守<3306>(5723){<1722>}這教訓<1322>的，{<3778>}就有<2192>(5719){<2532>}父<3962>又有<2532>子<5207>。
Whosoever<3956> transgresseth<3845>(5723), and<2532> abideth<3306>(5723) not<3361> in<1722> the doctrine<1322> of Christ<5547>, hath<2192>(5719) not<3756> God<2316>. He that abideth<3306>(5723) in<1722> the doctrine<1322> of Christ<5547>, he<3778> hath<2192>(5719) both<2532> the Father<3962> and<2532> the Son<5207>.
1:10 若<1487>有人<5100>到<2064>(5736)<4314>你們<4771>那裡，{<2532>}不是<3756>傳<5342>(5719)這<3778>教訓<1322>，不要<3361>接<2983>(5720)他<846>到<1519>家<3614>裡，也不要<2532><3361>問<3004>(5720)他<846>的安<5463>(5721)；
If<1536><0> there come<2064>(5736) any<1536><5100> unto<4314> you<5209>, and<2532> bring<5342>(5719) not<3756> this<5026> doctrine<1322>, receive<2983>(5720) him<846> not<3361> into<1519> your house<3614>, neither<2532><3361> bid<3004>(5720) him<846> God speed<5463>(5721):
1:11 因為<1063>問<3004>(5723)他<846>安<5463>(5721)的，就在他的<846>惡<4190>行<2041>上有分<2841>(5719)。
For<1063> he that biddeth<3004>(5723) him<846> God speed<5463>(5721) is partaker<2841>(5719) of his<846> evil<4190> deeds<2041>.
1:12 我還有<2192>(5723)許多事<4183>要寫<1125>(5721)給你們<4771>，卻不<3756>願意<1014>(5675)用<1223>紙<5489>{<2532>}墨<3188>寫出來，但<235>盼望<1679>(5719)到<1096>(5664)<4314>你們<4771>那裡，{<2532>}與你們當面<4750><4314><4750>談論<2980>(5658)，使<2443>你們<1473>的喜樂<5479>{<1510>}{(5725)}滿足<4137>(5772)。
Having<2192>(5723) many things<4183> to write<1125>(5721) unto you<5213>, I would<1014>(5675) not<3756> write with<1223> paper<5489> and<2532> ink<3188>: but<235> I trust<1679>(5719) to come<2064>(5629) unto<4314> you<5209>, and<2532> speak<2980>(5658) face<4750> to<4314> face<4750>, that<2443> our<2257> joy<5479> may be<5600>(5753) full<4137>(5772). {face to...: Gr. mouth to mouth} {our: or, your}
1:13 你<4771>那蒙揀選之<1588>姊妹<79>的兒女<5043>都問你<4771>安<782>(5736)。
The children<5043> of thy<4675> elect<1588> sister<79> greet<782>(5736) thee<4571>. Amen<281>.
