Wherefore<1352> when we could<4722><0> no longer<3371> forbear<4722>(5723), we thought it good<2106>(5656) to be left<2641>(5683) at<1722> Athens<116> alone<3441>;
2 {<2532>}打發<3992>(5656)我們的<1473>兄弟<80>{<2532>}在<1722>基督<5547>福音上<2098>作　神<2316>執事的（作神執事的：有古卷是與神同工的<4904>）提摩太<5095>前去，{<1519>}堅固<4741>(5658)你們<4771>，並<2532>在<5228>你們<4771>所信<4102>的道上勸慰<3870>(5658)你們，
And<2532> sent<3992>(5656) Timotheus<5095>, our<2257> brother<80>, and<2532> minister<1249> of God<2316>, and<2532> our<2257> fellowlabourer<4904> in<1722> the gospel<2098> of Christ<5547>, to<1519> establish<4741>(5658) you<5209>, and<2532> to comfort<3870>(5658) you<5209> concerning<4012> your<5216> faith<4102>:
3 {<3588>}免得有人<3367>被<1722>諸般<3778>患難<2347>搖動<4525>(5745)。因為<1063>你們自己<846>知道<3608a>(5758){<3754>}，我們受患難原是<1519><3778>命定的<2749>(5736)。
That no man<3367> should be moved<4525>(5745) by<1722> these<5025> afflictions<2347>: for<1063> yourselves<846> know<1492>(5758) that<3754> we are appointed<2749>(5736) thereunto<1519><5124>. {there unto: or, to sufferings, or, to persecution}
4 {<2532>}{<1063>}{<3753>}我們<1510>(5707)在{<4314>}你們<4771>那裡的時候，預先告訴<4302>(5707)你們<4771>，{<3754>}我們必受<3195>(5719)患難<2346>(5745)，以後<2532>果然<2531>應驗了<1096>(5662)，你們也<2532>知道<3608a>(5758)。
For<1063> verily<2532>, when<3753> we were<2258>(5713) with<4314> you<5209>, we told<4302><0> you<5213> before<4302>(5707) that<3754> we should<3195>(5719) suffer tribulation<2346>(5745); even<2532> as<2531> it came to pass<1096>(5633), and<2532> ye know<1492>(5758).
5 為<1223>此<3778>，我<2504>既不能再<3371>忍<4722>(5723)，就打發人去<3992>(5656)，要<1519>曉得<1097>(5658)你們的<4771>信心<4102>如何，恐怕<3361><4458>那誘惑人的<3985>(5723)到底誘惑了<3985>(5656)你們<4771>，{<2532>}叫我們的<1473>勞苦<2873>歸<1096>(5667)於<1519>徒然<2756>。
For this<5124> cause<1223>, when I<2504> could<4722><0> no longer<3371> forbear<4722>(5723), I sent<3992>(5656) to<1519> know<1097>(5629) your<5216> faith<4102>, lest by some means<3381><4458> the tempter<3985>(5723) have tempted<3985>(5707) you<5209>, and<2532> our<2257> labour<2873> be<1096>(5638) in<1519> vain<2756>.
6 但<1161>提摩太<5095>剛才<737>從<575>你們那裡<4771>回來<2064>(5660){<4314>}{<1473>}，{<2532>}將你們<4771>信心<4102>和<2532>愛心的<26>好消息報<2097>(5671)給我們<1473>，又說<2532>{<3754>}你們常常<3842>記念{<2192>}{(5719)}{<18>}<3417>我們<1473>，切切地<1971>(5723)想見<3708>(5658)我們<1473>，{<2532>}如同<2509>我們<1473>想見你們<4771>一樣。
But<1161> now<737> when Timotheus<5095> came<2064>(5631) from<575> you<5216> unto<4314> us<2248>, and<2532> brought<2097><0> us<2254> good tidings<2097>(5671) of your<5216> faith<4102> and<2532> charity<26>, and<2532> that<3754> ye have<2192>(5719) good<18> remembrance<3417> of us<2257> always<3842>, desiring greatly<1971>(5723) to see<1492>(5629) us<2248>, as<2509> we<2249> also<2532> to see you<5209>:
7 所以<1223><3778>，弟兄們<80>{<1909>}{<4771>}，我們<1473>在<1909>一切<3956>困苦<2347>{<2532>}患難<318>之中，因著<1223>你們的<4771>信心<4102>就得了安慰<3870>(5681)。
Therefore<1223><5124>, brethren<80>, we were comforted<3870>(5681) over<1909> you<5213> in<1909> all<3956> our<2257> affliction<2347> and<2532> distress<318> by<1223> your<5216> faith<4102>:
8 你們<4771>若<1437>靠<1722>主<2962>站立得穩<4739>(5719)，{<3754>}{<3568>}我們就活了<2198>(5719)。
For<3754> now<3568> we live<2198>(5719), if<1437> ye<5210> stand fast<4739>(5725) in<1722> the Lord<2962>.
9 我們{<1473>}在　神<2316>面前<1715>，因著<1223>你們<4771>{<3739>}甚是喜樂<5463>(5719)；為<1909>這一切<3956>喜樂<5479>，{<1063>}{<1410>}{(5736)}可用何等的<5101>感謝<2169>為<4012>你們<4771>報答<467>(5658)　神<2316>呢？
For<1063> what<5101> thanks<2169> can we<1410>(5736) render<467><0> to God<2316> again<467>(5629) for<4012> you<5216>, for<1909> all<3956> the joy<5479> wherewith<3739> we joy<5463>(5719) for<1223> your sakes<5209> before<1715> our<2257> God<2316>;
10 我們晝<2250>{<2532>}夜<3571>切切地<5238a>祈求<1189>(5740)，要<1519>見<3708>(5658)你們的<4771>面<4383>，{<2532>}補滿<2675>(5658)你們<4771>信心的<4102>不足<5303>。
Night<3571> and<2532> day<2250> praying<1189>(5740) exceedingly<1537><4053><5228> that<1519> we might see<1492>(5629) your<5216> face<4383>, and<2532> might perfect<2675>(5658) that which is lacking<5303> in your<5216> faith<4102>?
11 {<1161>}願　神<2316>{<846>}{<2532>}─我們的<1473>父<3962>和<2532>我們的<1473>主<2962>耶穌<2424>一直引領<2720>(5659)我們<1473>{<3598>}到<4314>你們<4771>那裡去。
Now<1161> God<2316> himself<846> and<2532> our<2257> Father<3962>, and<2532> our<2257> Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>, direct<2720>(5659) our<2257> way<3598> unto<4314> you<5209>. {direct: or, guide}
12 {<1161>}又願主<2962>叫你們<4771>彼此{<1519>}{<240>}相愛<26>的心，並<2532>愛眾人{<1519>}<3956>的心都能增長<4121>(5659)，{<2532>}充足<4052>(5659)，{<2532>}如同<2509>我們<1473>愛{<1519>}你們<4771>一樣，
And<1161> the Lord<2962> make<4121><0> you<5209> to increase<4121>(5659) and<2532> abound<4052>(5659) in love<26> one<240><0> toward<1519> another<240>, and<2532> toward<1519> all<3956> men , even<2532> as<2509> we<2249> do toward<1519> you<5209>:
13 好使你們當{<1722>}我們<1473>主<2962>耶穌<2424>同<3326>他<846>眾<3956>聖徒<40>來<3952>的時候，{<2532>}在我們<1473>父<3962>　神<2316>面前<1715>，{<4771>}心<2588>裡堅固<4741>(5658){<1519>}，成為{<1722>}聖潔<42>，無可責備<273>{<281>}。
To the end<1519> he may stablish<4741>(5658) your<5216> hearts<2588> unblameable<273> in<1722> holiness<42> before<1715> God<2316>, even<2532> our<2257> Father<3962>, at<1722> the coming<3952> of our<2257> Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547> with<3326> all<3956> his<846> saints<40>. {saints: or, holy ones, or, angels}
