1:1 猶大<03063>王<04428>約雅敬<03079>在位<09001><04438>第三<07969>年<09002><08141>，巴比倫<0894>王<04428>尼布甲尼撒<05019>來到<0935>(8804)耶路撒冷<03389>，將城<05921>圍困<06696>(8799)。
In the third<07969> year<08141> of the reign<04438> of Jehoiakim<03079> king<04428> of Judah<03063> came<0935>(8804) Nebuchadnezzar<05019> king<04428> of Babylon<0894> unto Jerusalem<03389>, and besieged<06696>(8799) it.
1:2 主<0136>將<0853>猶大<03063>王<04428>約雅敬<03079>，並上帝<0430>殿<01004>中器皿<03627>的幾分<04480><07117>交付<05414>(8799)他手<09002><03027>。他就把<0853>這器皿<03627>帶到<0935>(8686)示拿<08152>地<0776>，收入他神<0430>的廟<01004>裡，放在<0935>(8689)他神<0430>的庫<01004><0214>中。
And the Lord<0136> gave<05414>(8799) Jehoiakim<03079> king<04428> of Judah<03063> into his hand<03027>, with part<07117> of the vessels<03627> of the house<01004> of God<0430>: which he carried<0935>(8686) into the land<0776> of Shinar<08152> to the house<01004> of his god<0430>; and he brought<0935>(8689) the vessels<03627> into the treasure<0214> house<01004> of his god<0430>.
1:3 王<04428>吩咐<0559>(8799)太監<05631>長<07227>亞施毘拿<09001><0828>，從<04480>以色列<03478>人<04480><01121>的宗室<04410>和<04480><02233>貴冑<06579>中帶進<09001><0935>(8687)幾個人來，
And the king<04428> spake<0559>(8799) unto Ashpenaz<0828> the master<07227> of his eunuchs<05631>, that he should bring<0935>(8687) certain of the children<01121> of Israel<03478>, and of the king's<04410> seed<02233>, and of the princes<06579>;
1:4 就是<0834>年少<03206>沒有<0369>{<09002>}{<03605>}殘疾<03971>、相貌<04758>俊美<02896>、通達<07919>(8688)各樣<09002><03605>學問<02451>、知識<01847>聰明<0995>(8688)<04093>俱備<03045>(8802)、{<0834>}足能<03581>{<09002>}侍立<09001><05975>(8800)在王<04428>宮<09002><01964>裡的，要教他們<09001><03925>(8763)迦勒底<03778>的文字<05612>言語<03956>。
Children<03206> in whom was no blemish<03971>(8675)<03971>, but well<02896> favoured<04758>, and skilful<07919>(8688) in all wisdom<02451>, and cunning<03045>(8802) in knowledge<01847>, and understanding<0995>(8688) science<04093>, and such as had ability<03581> in them to stand<05975>(8800) in the king's<04428> palace<01964>, and whom they might teach<03925>(8763) the learning<05612> and the tongue<03956> of the Chaldeans<03778>.
1:5 王<04428>派定<04487>(8762)將自己{<04428>}所用的膳<04480><06598>和所飲<04480><04960>的酒<03196>，每日<03117><09002><03117>賜他們<09001>一分<01697>，養他們<09001><01431>(8763)三<07969>年<08141>。滿了<04480><07117>三年，好叫他們在王<04428>面前<09001><06440>侍立<05975>(8799)。
And the king<04428> appointed<04487>(8762) them a daily<03117><03117> provision<01697> of the king's<04428> meat<06598>, and of the wine<03196> which he drank<04960>: so nourishing<01431>(8763) them three<07969> years<08141>, that at the end<07117> thereof they might stand<05975>(8799) before<06440> the king<04428>. {the wine...: Heb. the wine of his drink}
1:6 他們中間<09002>有<01961>猶大<03063>族<04480><01121>的人：但以理<01840>、哈拿尼雅<02608>、米沙利<04332>、亞撒利雅<05838>。
Now among these were of the children<01121> of Judah<03063>, Daniel<01840>, Hananiah<02608>, Mishael<04332>, and Azariah<05838>:
1:7 太監<05631>長<08269>給他們<09001>起<07760>(8799)名<08034>：稱但以理<09001><01840>為<07760>(8799)伯提沙撒<01095>，稱哈拿尼雅<09001><02608>為沙得拉<07714>，稱米沙利<09001><04332>為米煞<04335>，稱亞撒利雅<09001><05838>為亞伯尼歌<05664>。
Unto whom the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631> gave<07760>(8799) names<08034>: for he gave<07760>(8799) unto Daniel<01840> the name of Belteshazzar<01095>; and to Hananiah<02608>, of Shadrach<07714>; and to Mishael<04332>, of Meshach<04335>; and to Azariah<05838>, of Abednego<05664>.
1:8 但以理<01840>卻立<07760>(8799){<05921>}志<03820>{<0834>}不<03808>以王<04428>的膳<09002><06598>和王所飲<04960>的酒<09002><03196>玷污<01351>(8691)自己，所以求<01245>(8762)太監<05631>長<04480><08269>{<0834>}容他不<03808>玷污<01351>(8691)自己。
But Daniel<01840> purposed<07760>(8799) in his heart<03820> that he would not defile<01351>(8691) himself with the portion<06598><00> of the king's<04428> meat<06598>, nor with the wine<03196> which he drank<04960>: therefore he requested<01245>(8762) of the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631> that he might not defile<01351>(8691) himself.
1:9 上帝<0430>使<05414>(8799){<0853>}但以理<01840>在太監<05631>長<08269>眼前<09001><06440>蒙恩惠<09001><02617>，受憐憫<09001><07356>。
Now God<0430> had brought<05414>(8799) Daniel<01840> into favour<02617> and tender love<07356> with<06440> the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631>.
1:10 太監<05631>長<08269>對但以理<09001><01840>說<0559>(8799)：「我<0589>懼怕<03373>{<0853>}我主<0113>我王<04428>，他<0834>已經派定<04487>(8765){<0853>}你們的飲<04960>{<0853>}食<03978>；倘若<0834>他見<07200>(8799){<0853>}你們的面貌<06440>比<04480>{<0834>}你們同歲的<09003><01524>少年人<03206>肌瘦<02196>(8802)，怎麼好呢<09001><04100>？這樣，你們就使<0853>我的頭<07218>在王<09001><04428>那裡難保<02325>(8765)。」
And the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631> said<0559>(8799) unto Daniel<01840>, I fear<03373> my lord<0113> the king<04428>, who hath appointed<04487>(8765) your meat<03978> and your drink<04960>: for why should he see<07200>(8799) your faces<06440> worse liking<02196>(8802) than the children<03206> which are of your sort<01524>? then shall ye make me endanger<02325>(8765) my head<07218> to the king<04428>. {worse...: Heb. sadder} {sort: or, term, or, continuance?}
1:11 但以理<01840>對<0413>太監<05631>長<08269>所<0834>派<04487>(8765)管理<05921>但以理<01840>、哈拿尼雅<02608>、米沙利<04332>、亞撒利雅<05838>的委辦<04453>說<0559>(8799)：
Then said<0559>(8799) Daniel<01840> to Melzar<04453>, whom the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631> had set<04487>(8765) over Daniel<01840>, Hananiah<02608>, Mishael<04332>, and Azariah<05838>, {Melzar: or, the steward}
1:12 「求你<04994>試試<05254>(8761){<0853>}僕人們<05650>十<06235>天<03117>，給<05414>(8799)我們<09001>{<04480>}素菜<02235>吃<0398>(8799)，白水<04325>喝<08354>(8799)，
Prove<05254>(8761) thy servants<05650>, I beseech thee, ten<06235> days<03117>; and let them give<05414>(8799) us pulse<02235> to eat<0398>(8799), and water<04325> to drink<08354>(8799). {pulse: Heb. of pulse} {to eat...: Heb. that we may eat, etc}
1:13 然後看看<07200>(8735){<09001>}{<06440>}我們的面貌<04758>和用<0398>(8802){<0853>}王<04428>膳<06598>那少年人<03206>的面貌<04758>，就照你所<09003><0834>看<07200>(8799)的待<06213>(8798){<05973>}僕人<05650>吧！」
Then let our countenances<04758> be looked upon<07200>(8735) before<06440> thee, and the countenance<04758> of the children<03206> that eat<0398>(8802) of the portion<06598><00> of the king's<04428> meat<06598>: and as thou seest<07200>(8799), deal<06213>(8798) with thy servants<05650>.
1:14 委辦便允准<08085>(8799)他們<09001>這<02088>件事<09001><01697>，試看他們<05254>(8762)十<06235>天<03117>。
So he consented<08085>(8799) to them in this matter<01697>, and proved<05254>(8762) them ten<06235> days<03117>.
1:15 過了<04480><07117>十<06235>天<03117>，見<07200>(8738)他們的面貌<04758>比<04480>用<0398>(8802){<0853>}王<04428>膳<06598>的一切<03605>少年人<03206>更加俊美<02896>肥<01277>胖<01320>。
And at the end<07117> of ten<06235> days<03117> their countenances<04758> appeared<07200>(8738) fairer<02896> and fatter<01277> in flesh<01320> than all the children<03206> which did eat<0398>(8802) the portion<06598><00> of the king's<04428> meat<06598>.
1:16 於是<01961>委辦<04453>撤去<05375>(8802){<0853>}派他們用的膳<06598>，飲<04960>的酒<03196>，給<05414>(8802)他們<09001>素菜<02235>吃。
Thus Melzar<04453> took away<05375>(8802) the portion of their meat<06598>, and the wine<03196> that they should drink<04960>; and gave<05414>(8802) them pulse<02235>.
1:17 這<0428>四個<0702>少年人<03206>，上帝<0430>在各樣<09002><03605>文字<05612>學問（學問：原文是智慧<02451>）上賜<05414>(8804)給他們<09001>聰明<04093>知識<07919>(8687)；但以理<01840>又明白<0995>(8689)各樣的<09002><03605>異象<02377>和夢兆<02472>。
As for these four<0702> children<03206>, God<0430> gave<05414>(8804) them knowledge<04093> and skill<07919>(8687) in all learning<05612> and wisdom<02451>: and Daniel<01840> had understanding<0995>(8689) in all visions<02377> and dreams<02472>. {Daniel...: or, he made Daniel understand}
1:18 尼布甲尼撒<05019>王<04428>{<0834>}預定<0559>(8804)帶進<09001><0935>(8687)少年人來的日期<03117>滿了<09001><04480><07117>，太監<05631>長<08269>就把他們帶到<0935>(8686)王面前<09001><06440>。
Now at the end<07117> of the days<03117> that the king<04428> had said<0559>(8804) he should bring<0935>(8687) them in, then the prince<08269> of the eunuchs<05631> brought<0935>(8686) them in before<06440> Nebuchadnezzar<05019>.
1:19 王<04428>與他們<0854>談論<01696>(8762)，見<04672>(8738)少年人中<04480><03605>無一人<03808>能比但以理<09003><01840>、哈拿尼雅<02608>、米沙利<04332>、亞撒利雅<05838>，所以留他們在王<04428>面前<09001><06440>侍立<05975>(8799)。
And the king<04428> communed<01696>(8762) with them; and among them all was found<04672>(8738) none like Daniel<01840>, Hananiah<02608>, Mishael<04332>, and Azariah<05838>: therefore stood<05975>(8799) they before<06440> the king<04428>.
1:20 王<04428>考問<01245>(8765)他們<04480>一切<03605>事<01697>，就見<04672>(8799)他們的智慧<02451>聰明<0998>比<05921>{<0834>}通<09002><03605>國<04438>的{<03605>}術士<02748>和用法術的<0825>勝過十<06235>倍<03027>。
And in all matters<01697> of wisdom<02451> and understanding<0998>, that the king<04428> enquired<01245>(8765) of them, he found<04672>(8799) them ten times<06235> better<03027> than all the magicians<02748> and astrologers<0825> that were in all his realm<04438>. {wisdom...: Heb. wisdom of understanding}
1:21 到<05704>古列<09001><03566>王<04428>元<0259>年<08141>，但以理<01840>還在<01961>。
And Daniel<01840> continued even unto the first<0259> year<08141> of king<04428> Cyrus<03566>.
